5,000.00 MAKEOVER COMPETITION
Here is a re-cap of our Bliss Makeover competition in collaboration with the above friends. I am very focused on my double anniversary of my 25 years in hairdressing & 18 years since opening my 1st salon. I just thought I’d re-cap & update visitors to my blog with the current situation as we have decided to increase the prizes for the 6 Echo Reader finalists. This has now swollen to a value of over 5,000.00!!! The reason for this is that we felt the final 6 all deserved a make-over for different, yet special reasons which were very varied: upcoming 50th birthday parties, nightime care work, losing looks & being devoted full time carers or Grandmothers.
As Bliss is all about make-overs, fashion & looking good, I decided to mark my double anniversaries by, re-designing & refitting all 3 Bliss salons & making over our website. While I was in make-over mood I decided it would be great to collaborate with some my friends at JULIE OSWIN PHOTOGRAPHY, THE LASER & LIGHT CLINIC, THE LOUGHBOROUGH ECHO & PRESTWOLD HALL to offer ECHO readers the chance to get involved in all this madness, by organising a competition with prizes of fabulous make-overs.
The standard of entries was very high & after very careful consideration, myself & judges from BLISS, THE LASER & LIGHT CLINIC & JULIE OSWIN PHOTOGRAPHY decided that all the entrants from the final 6 all deserved a make-over as their individual reasons for entering were so touching & deserved. Therefore BLISS, THE LASER & LIGHT CLINIC, PRESTWOLD HALL & JULIE OSWIN PHOTOGRAPHY, are now donating over £5,000.00 worth of '10 years younger' TV style makeovers - one lucky winner will then recieve a LUXURY VIP photo shoot & upgraded treatments......look out for the winners here!
Wella Colour Experts are now resident in all Bliss salons - what they don't know about hair colour & current Winter trends isn't worth knowing, just ask if you need advice or inspiration request to check out our colour look books.
We now have Redken Hair & Scalp Clinics in all 3 salons - so please feel free to book in & discuss your concerns & requirements confidentially with any team member.
Stef Wall from Sister Bliss beat of stiff competition on stage in London to win a place on Racoon Hair Extensions International Art Team - well done Stef! Stef has already been to her first RATpack session & trained in all the latest extension looks from the catwalks. DEAF AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Me with Olympic medalist Tony Ally
Deaf Awareness Presentation I was invited by my audiologist Ian Arnold at Arnold Hearing Care, to deliver 2 presentations about how I manage my deafness at work & in my career as a hairdresser & salon owner. I began by screening a high fashion video presentation of Bliss's portfolio of photographic images, set to a pumping house track. I did this to show what I do professionally as I don't think many people associate this with a hearing loss. My presentation was put together to challenge peoples perceptions of what kind of life a typical person with a hearing loss leads. I discussed the challenges I have faced both personally & professionally & demonstrated with a video how I manage these with equipment & techniques to help me communicate better at work & in social, noisy situations. One of the other presenters was Olympic Medalist & Swimmer Tony Ally, who faces similar challenges through his hereditary hearing loss as a professional sportsman. I am now involved in other campaigns for deaf awareness as I feel if I can achieve what I have at Bliss with a hearing loss, I hope it inspires others to realise they can do it too, whatever challenges they face. My Dad, Brother & Aunt all have the same type of loss as me, so I know it is getting progressivley worse as I get older - therefore I am currently learning British Sign Language at college in Nottingham to enable me to communicate with all types of people both at work & socially. I just wanted to say a big thankyou to Ian & the team at Arnold Hearing Care for inviting me to speak at these important events - if any deaf or hard of hearing clients have had problems when having their hair cut in the past, do come & see us as my team are very aware of your needs through communicating with me. Please email me at our contacts page for more information.

(below) I was the compere/MC on stage at the maze in Nottingham the other Saturday for a hilarious one off panto entitled Pinochihohoho!
As a Salon Owner I have double celebrations in 2008 as it's my 25th year as a hairdresser & 18 years since I opened my first salon - To commemorate this he I have put together a brand new website. Check out our new online home - http://www.blisshair.com/
Finally I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Sam Middleton, the Bliss Group's Executive Stylist, for all her hard work & dedication over the last 10 years. Sam has been instrumental in Bliss's growth & development & I am sure I speak on behalf of all the team & our loyal clients in wishing her the best of luck in her new life in Australia. Good Luck - We'll miss you!
