Bliss Awards at Bliss Hair Salons in Nottingham & Loughborough – Recognising Teamwork & Talent
Every year, Bliss recognises the employees who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty by taking the time to recognise them at our annual celebration. The long-anticipated Bliss Awards was a huge success, recognising the fantastic hairdressing and front of house team at Bliss Hair Salons in Nottingham & Loughborough.
This past year has been particularly challenging so extra credit certainly goes to Team Bliss for consistently giving 150%, going above and beyond and keeping each other motivated.
A Word From Bliss Owner Nick Tedd
This past year has included adapting to new procedures and ways of staying creative and positive, including hosting the Bliss Awards via Zoom on a Tuesday morning, instead of together and preferably near a bar! I’ve been in hairdressing for nearly 40 years and have seen it all from films, photo shoots, travel, opening salons, living in London, working in the biggest salon in Europe in the iconic Selfridges, meeting my idols and employing 100’s of people.
It’s been an amazing rollercoaster, exciting and a massive opportunity to learn and grow – lockdown could never stop that! In fact, during the lockdown I was passionate about keeping the amazing team together, ensuring that they had a job to come back to and continually providing new ways of training to keep their outstanding skills and minds sharp. The team worked fabulously in increasing our online presence and worked together to create a truly unique voice across our social media channels.
Despite the lockdown seemingly going on all year, we were actually able to open for 8 months last year, the team pulled together and helped to improve our premises and we even welcomed some new faces to Team Bliss! The resilience shown by the team has made me so proud of them and inspired me behind the scenes to make plans to improve the Bliss business even more in the next year!
A Blissful Client Experience
With the necessary changes to our client experience in the Bliss Salons, we were proud when the feedback from clients included them feeling safe in our “New Normal” salons. With longer appointment times to ensure less clients and staff in the salons, a visit to Bliss Hair Salons feels professional, less rushed and a more exclusive event than before the first lockdown. We have not only survived but in many ways thrived & that’s what today is about celebrating. Our booking system, complete with taking deposits has ensured that your experience in a Bliss salon feels smoother and more streamlined.
Team Bliss Have Excelled Themselves During The Past Year
In rising to the challenges presented over the last year, Team Bliss have proven that they continue to lead the way and consistently reinvent themselves, their skills and find innovative ways to be the very best version of themselves. We are so proud of each and every one of our team and to have them as part of the Bliss family, to inspire us and keep our passion for hairdressing fired up.

MOST WANTED BLISS HAIRDRESSER 2021
This award recognises one employee who has consistently achieved the highest level of client
retention. They are our best ‘client keeper’ & ‘sticky stylists’. This means that they keep the most
amount of returning clients who cannot live without them as their hairdresser & are extremely
They achieve excellence for their clients & by naming them Most Wanted Bliss Hairdresser
of the Year this will only get bigger as previous holders have proven.
This year’s winner has worked at Bliss for some time now. Without her drive and energy, Bliss
could never have the opportunity to be in the position it is today.
3RD PLACE: LAUREN CHAMBERS (Nottingham)

BLISS HOMECARE ADVISOR 2021
This award recognises one employee who has consistently advised their clients to use the homecare
professionally recommended to them in order to maintain & manage their look at home. This means
that this person really does, listen, care and advise.
Though everyone at Bliss gives 100%, one of the reasons we’ve had such a stellar year, is because this person has a habit of giving 115%. This
year’s winner was a very close call!

This award recognises one employee who has consistently advised the highest level of in-salon

Again – This means that this person really does, listen, care and advise.

A word from Nick Tedd
Again, we’d like to say a massive thank you to everybody for working hard through an unprecedented year
when were open for a total of 8 months – and what an 8 months it was!
The theme for last year was kindness, appreciation & looking out and after each other & our clients.
It’s been my pleasure to have the satisfaction of knowing these were met, not just from what I have
seen & heard myself, but what I have heard from all of you & our clients – We have over 200 positive
client reviews on our website & they make me very proud.
It’s a really exciting time for Bliss right now because we have an opportunity for a fresh start & to
grow and expand the salons with a really strong, dedicated group of people who have shown a stellar example of what teamwork means.
This was the nicest task for me to do as it is voted for by all members of Team Bliss,
it was an absolute pleasure to read, so much so that I’m going to share some of the votes here so that the team and our wonderful clients can see what I mean…
Fran ~ always gets involved and steps up, she mucks in and rolls her sleeves up and always pushes
to get the best out of people. She is 1 step ahead & goes above and beyond, rearranging
appointments. She not only is a huge support for us at work, she will also give us personal support
Lauren ~ goes the extra mile to support her colleagues & is supportive in and out of work. She’s’
changed her weekends to help everyone.
Emma ~ is always there for me, helping the trainees, sorting “click and collect” too.
Dani ~ is always a pleasure to speak to, happy, polite – nothing is too much trouble & she has a great
presence on social media & has given up her time to help during lockdown.
Becky ~ is always there to help & always supports us whenever we need her. She has worked
through it all behind the scenes, set up new systems on her own and made sure we all got paid still.
She is always positive.
Sam ~ has really made a success of her RTW after maternity leave and it’s great to have her back.
She’s done 12 hour shifts, really been a team player & will help whenever she can – she really
deserved her Employee of the month title.
Maisie ~ works in 2 bubbles and has really knuckled down to her role – clients really like her and I’m
always happy with her attitude and commitment to her role – her colour work is outstanding. Can’t
wait to chuck her in at the deep end with her own clients as she is ready.
Maya ~ stepped on training at work and while furloughed. Since 1st year apprentice left she has just
got on with it without complaining & has managed to balance all aspects of her role & has worked in
both bubbles. She has delivered to a really good standard on models and clients.
Leeanne ~ drops everything to help, goes beyond the call of duty when not scheduled – clients have
remarked on her infectious positivity.
Liz ~ is an amazing colourist / stylist & always runs on time & is punctual with her clients and never
lets them down. She is always presentable throughout.
Emilie ~ is always there for me at work & out of work. She helps me with my homework & really
pushes me – she’s very focused on helping others. She’s a proper support buddy in and out of work.
Beth ~ is really hardworking and an asset to the team, she’s part of the family here now and holds a
very important role keeping the salon & us ticking over. She is posting a record of her progress on Team Bliss (our team Facebook group)
& I can’t wait to see her doing clients.
Sarah ~ has really stepped into her new role at Sister Bliss and some clients have followed her form
So as you can tell.. it was a wonderful exercise to do & it was nearly impossible to choose just one
This year’s winner will be awarded an engraved trophy to say thank you for all they have
given to Bliss.
I thought everyone deserved to win this as they have all been absolute diamonds – for
all the above reasons. Not everyone has made it through the last year with us & as we expand the
team these are the people who have proven I can put my faith in them & trust them to carry my vision
forward – well done.
It’s been great for me to have the pleasure to champion the team’s success and also a great
opportunity for the team to catch up and celebrate their success.
Celebrating our Team Bliss awards is a great way to gain closure from the last year and get excited for reopening!
I’m very proud of you all & looking forward to the future more than ever as it’s definitely going to be
brimming with more good hairdo days.
