How Can I Explain To My Bliss Hair Stylist What I Want?

Before a hair appointment at the Bliss Hair Salons, we will complete a thorough consultation because we believe the best hair is always a collaboration between you and your stylist.  We’re here to ask the right questions, really listen to your needs and use our expert skills and knowledge to create a hair style and colour that is perfect for you.

As well as assessing your hair type, we’ll think about your skin tone, how much time you have to maintain your hair, lifestyle requirements, budget, individual style and more. If you have a picture of the style you’d like us to create, that’s great! Whether it’s a favourite celebrity, Pinterest board, or perhaps a selfie of a style you’d like to recreate, your Bliss stylist will make it work for you.

We have recently launched our online consultation forms, which you can fill out in the comfort of your home, taking the time to really think about what you want and ensuring we can deliver what you want! Check out our online consultation form here

Why Do I Need A Patch Test?

Your health and safety is always our top priority at Bliss Hair Salons in Nottingham and Loughborough. Allergic reactions to hair colour are rare, but they can happen, so it’s important that you follow our guidelines on patch testing.  We only use top quality hair care products in our salons, but to ensure your safety, we may require you to have an allergy patch test no later than 48 hours before your colour service.

Sensitivity to hair colour can change over time and may be affected by the use of other hair care products, hormonal fluctuations or illness. It’s a quick and simple procedure, but vitally important for your safety.

What is a Toner?

Toning is the most important part of the colour process. Toners add the colour into your hair after the bleaching process to give you the shade you desire. They are effective in achieving different blonde, red and brunette shades. Toners also add shine to natural hair without affecting the colour.

Your Bliss stylist can create a custom hair gloss for you – it’s like a lip gloss for the hair (clear or otherwise), boosting the condition while adding shine.

Why Do Your Charges Vary Between Different Stylists?

All of the Bliss stylists are highly skilled and trained, but some simply have more experience than others.  A service with a stylist who has been working in hairdressing for 10 years or more will be more expensive than with one of our newly qualified stylists.

You can be assured that all of the Bliss stylists will offer you a great service, and it’s most important to find someone who you feel comfortable with and develop a rapport, although we appreciate that costs are a factor when deciding on a stylist. We’d recommend booking in for a consultation at your local Bliss Salon and taking it from there.

I’m Growing My Hair, So Why Do I Need Regular Trims?

We all know by now that frequent hair trims do not, in fact, make your hair grow faster. Whether you cut it or not, your hair will grow at the same rate. That said, because split ends can make the hair appear scraggly and thin, regular trims do go a long way in keeping strands strong and healthy looking, which can help you acheive your goal length much sooner.

Once a hair strand splits at the end, the damage will only progress. Left untouched, a split end will continue all the way up the hair shaft, damaging the entire strand beyond repair. So, whilst regular trims wont actually make your hair grow faster, they will absolutely eliminate the very thing that prevents longer hair.

I Use Professional Conditioner From The Salon – Why Is My Hair Still Fried?

One of the most common issues we see with this question is that you’re taking 2 minute showers! Leave your conditioner on for at least 5 minutes – shampoo and rinse first, then towel dry and apply your conditioner. Comb through to ensure every strand is covered and leave it on whilst you shave your legs, wash your face and body and sing into your shampoo bottle.

If you use a Colour Fresh Mask these tips are a must (especially the singing, it helps the colour take better).

How Can I Stop My Hair Looking Frizzy?

We all look at models with gloriously smooth, glossy hair on Instagram, and it’s easy to feel disheartened about our own unruly locks. We ‘d recommend visiting your local Bliss salon for a hair soothing Olaplex treatment. Olaplex hydrates and repairs dry, colour damaged and stressed hair, leaving ti feeling silky, soft and glossy. Does Your Hair Really Get Used to Your Shampoo?⠀

The shampoo you buy should be selected with your hair needs in mind, so at Bliss we will prescribe just like a GP prescription. We always aim to target your hair’s most important need at that time. ⠀
If your shampoo seems to stop delivering the same results over time, it could be that it has has already addressed your hair’s previous needs and it may be time to re-examine your product choice. Remember that your hair’s needs will continuously change so remember to ask us what we use on your hair in the salon & why!
